He obviously doesn't have the nonce to run a campaign. That bit where he asked Obama to stop talking about taxes was just laughable...

(6,110 posts)There is something unusual with his fluid speech production when stressed. It seems similar to that of friends who had severe head trauma. His lack of empathy is something else.
He may have something in the Aspergers continuum. Hard to diagnose.

(6,110 posts)According to most accounts by Romney of wreck, he was unconscious and came to in hospital. He was driving car, one of his passengers was killed.
If he was really unconscious that long, then likely a head trauma was involved. I just look for a link about the wreck in France, and the more I looked the less certain I am about what happened back in 1968.
The wreck was while George Romney was running for President. There are a number stories relooking at pieces of that story that don't quite seem right. Articles have appeared in print and at sites like Kos. I will wait to post any links until I can look carefully.

That may be why he picked Ryan in the first place. Ryan's plan is the flat out meanest plan ever pushed on americans. Mitt is probably envious.

(52,199 posts)i don't doubt that he's extraordinarily clever in terms of figuring out how to extract money from struggling companies.
but he "won" by getting paid big even when the result on the field was a loss, and when the result on the field was a win, he got paid WAAAAYYYYY in excess of his actual contributions.
someone who is accustomed to this sort of success expects to just make a speech and read soaring poll numbers the next day.
he's doesn't know how to actually EARN something.
more, he's baffled by the concept that actually EARNING something could possibly be something required of HIM, of all people.

ROMNEY OFFICIALLY EMBRACES RYANS PLAN FOR MEDICARE
http://thinkprogress.org/health/2012/08/13/685801/romney-officially-embraces-ryans-plan-for-medicare/
my plan for Medicare is very similar to his plan for Medicare.
And behind that, Republicans were against Medicare at the outset. Both of Paul Ryan's budgets incorporating Obama's Medicare cost cuts were passed in the House on partisan votes by Republicans.
Mitt realizes he's losing the election down between 7 and 9 points in the last four major polls. He panics naming Ryan to change the narrative. Suddenly, when Mitt sobers up from his silliness and panic, Mitt realizes having Ryan as VP and the Medicare issues are toxic if he wants to win Florida and the battleground states - the election. So Mitt panics again today saying he'll have no part of cutting the $700 billion from Medicare like meany Obama.
That Mitt thinks will provide Rove a dishonest angle to attack Obama with the billionaires Citizen United dough and swing the election his way.
Just one big problem with that scam: it may not happen for a bit but I think the vast majority of the media will see through it and ultimately call him out. It's so obvious what he's up to - flip-flopping on a cost savings to the taxpayers that doesn't hurt Medicare benefits. The media can't help but see how pathetically desperate he is - like shooting flip-flopping fish in a barrel.
So I think the above will go down as a very stupid move by Mitt and a key reason he loses the campaign.
My only concerns would be his campaign blows up before the convention and they replace him or the media owned by the billionaires does nothing of substance to call him on it. I'm more concerned about the former than the latter.

(4,460 posts)I have Mormon cousins (parents were converts), and they're kind and charitable people. Although they're blue class folks, I'm sure they'll vote for Rmoney. They're in KY, and I don't think they get how the hierarchy works, as in how the very rich rules the religion. My FiL was born and raised Mormon in SLC, but he converted to Catholicism to marry my MiL. Good for me when I met my husband. I'm an Oscar Romero/Dorothy Day type Catholic, as is he, so we made a good match. However, other issues now prevent us from attending Mass.
