Wait, what?

There's still something about the Florida results, especially Gillum/DeSantis, that bothers me.

Somehow, the same people who voted to restore a felon's right to vote by a 2-1 margin, and to shut down Grayhound racing, then turned around and voted for Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis? According to a Quinnepiac poll taken Monday, Gillum was up by 6 or 7 points. This just doesn't feel right to me.

8. Actually, in light of the results I am not sure my post made any sense. Just glad it happened.

Here is some background. I never grew up around racing of any kind. Two of my best friends in college did. One's family was involved with horse racing and the other dog racing. This was 1960's - 1970's and beyond. At that point I lost track of both of them. Both in the Hialeah/Ft Lauderdale area. I never gave it much thought back then. As time went on articles here and there appeared suggesting that the disposal of the "losers" was kind of an ugly affair. I did a 180. Sort or reminded me of a slightly less brutal version of dog fighting or cock fighting.

This past year I posted some half-heartedly negative things about people who were so excited to be attending the Kentucky Derby and whatever other races. I get the tradition, the pomp and circumstance, but in general it does nothing for me. Some cling to the tradition. I could care less.

4. Exactly. I have been saying the same since last night. Looks like it is a collective thinking, here

Voter suppression in federal elections.

I'm not a separation of powers expert, but I would think many committees of the House would be able to look at the conduct of federal elections (and, I guess, oh by the way, hmmm...a few state elections like GA governor and that awful Brian Kemp) while doing the federal ones. Put them under oath and get them to tell the truth or perjure themselves before Congress.

Would help unearth some of the shenanigans and send a message for 2020.
