we can take the Senate in 2020. At least the odds arent great. Yes, 22 Republicans are up for re-election. But they are almost all in red states. Doug Jones is very vulnerable so thats quite likely a loss. If we want a say in SCOTUS nominations we will have to defeat Trump.

(13,877 posts)with hapless impeachment wrangling and wasting of resources and political capitol. We have two years to get it right...to build bases...to plot to WIN. Many more women and minorities need to be trained and supported. The young need an entire organization to mobilize. These activities garner respect and are functional. I'd like to see the DCC create and staff entire entities for each...with an elected politician at the helm...in name if not in fact.
This will do the job...if the Democrats are willing to be patient and do what we do best...arm those that are not rich, white and powerful. We need to find some other Tom Steyer's willing to invest in America's future. The Mercer's are surely not hiding their craven literal purchase of high political office (POTUS + ) and Rebeckah's appointment. Like Whittaker, the Rs say...so what if it's wrong...what you going to do about it?
We complain that the Rs are selfish and brazen. True. But we need a bit more brazen and less floundering, IMO

(10,532 posts)There are vulnerable Republicans in Maine and Colorado, both of which were Clinton states in 2016. North Carolina is a swing state, which HRC was about to win before the Comey intervention, and which has a vulnerable GOP senator. We can also win seats in Iowa, Arizona and Georgia.

Third parties think they will change the country
Hearts and minds must be won but the EC will still choose who wins the presidency . Senate must be a target for change as it counts by the number of votes . Don't write off the senate yet.
