(53,544 posts)Did the local post office contact county election office?
Did the county election office do this intentionally?
How many absentee ballots were sent out to voters?
Did the county election office receive but not report ballots?
Consider getting the scanned images of all ballots from the post office. Both when sent out by the post office and from the voter.

(15,498 posts)When will we have the political power at the national and state level to hold fucks like Kemp accountable, even imprison them. Because what Kemp did here is a crime.
The Department of Justice needs to get in there, help the USPS find all those ballots, because they are in 'lost letters' somewhere, and COUNT THEM.
No shit.

(69,527 posts)It's a majority minority county, which means it would be expected to vote heavily for the Democrat.
This looks terrible.

(54,770 posts)There are no official or credible reports of irregularities in absentee ballots (any voter can mail in an absentee ballot in Georgia for any reason) in Chatham county. Chatham is essentially Savannah, Georgia, and is the most populous county outside of Atlanta. It's Board of Commissioners is quite diverse, and they are well managed.
Rural Georgia, particularly North Georgia -- where trump took 70 to over 80% of the vote in many areas -- is another matter.
brush
(61,033 posts)that doesn't happen accidentally as official printed pieces like that go through many proofreader eyes before being printed and sent out.
A wrong address would've been caught and changed if it was unintentional.
The OP said there were no absentee ballots for that county.
None? Shouldn't that raise suspicions?
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)is suspicious. Also, Chatham County is governed by a diverse group of elected and appointed officials. They were responsible for local ballots. They arent some white wing enclave of racists, like a lot of rural counties in Gy. . Spreading erroneous junk doesnt help Democrats.

(498 posts)Here in Michigan, addressed to my wife and I, was a supposed absentee voter application. It was sent by the republican party. We're both democrats. Vote democrat. And might be on mailing lists for democrats.
Thought it was pretty weird to see that in the mail. And so I wonder if the address were correct or if something else were scammy.

Just to put a fine point on this. I was monitoring absentee ballot activity for the successful Georgia signature verification lawsuit and sharing this information with lawyers. The claim Chatham had zero mail ballots is utterly and totally false
Ryan Anderson
@gtryan
In fact, there were over 14k MORE mail in ballots accepted this election than for the 2016 election.
97 counties had more mail in ballots than 2016.
And since it seems to be ground zero for the false rumor, Chatham has 6,117 mail ballots, compared to 5,156 in 2016.
FWIW, note that neither Prof. McDonald or Ms. Hill are using verified Twitter accounts. Probably not significant.

(17,137 posts)The spreadsheet has columns for both "Absentee by Mail" and "Advance in Person". The numbers I used are from the former.
I don't know what evidence Ms. Hill has for there being "none"; as far as I can tell, she hasn't provided any. Several people have asked in her twitter feed, but I havn't seen a response.
ecstatic
(35,128 posts)but at this point, I don't trust anything the SOS has reported. With 2900+ precincts, Kemp only needed to suppress 30 or so votes per precinct to ensure his own victory. Right now there's enough evidence to show that he succeeded in his suppression efforts. He will never be a legitimate governor in this state, and apparently, he was OK with that as long as he was victorious. Disgusting!

(17,137 posts)What I'm having a hard time understanding, and this is not directed at you, is why so many people seem to accept an outrageous claim posted by some random Twitter user, with no evidence to support the claim. All the evidence I've seen contradicts her claim.
One possibility is that she isn't just "some random Twitter user". Perhaps Ms. Hill has a reputation as an impeccable source and I'm just not aware of it. Otherwise, I really don't understand why her claim seems to have so much creedence here.
ecstatic
(35,128 posts)the mail in ballot count is zero doesn't change the fact that voters are seeing their ballots returned as undeliverable.
Yes, there will be a lot of hyperbole on both sides because people are pissed!
Just to be clear, I'm not disputing Ms. Whit's account of her returned absentee ballot, I'm disputing Ms. Hill's claim about all of the absentee ballots.

(28,493 posts)where the correct box was?
That's a huge question. Once they'd received even one pre-printed ballot envelope with the wrong address someone should have phoned the local election office to find out the correct one. Actually, they probably didn't need a phone call because they'd have had that information at the post office.
There is more than one place to distribute blame to.
