(22,000 posts)And they hope the media will only throw softball questions at her. Of course look how they treated Hillary Clinton when Bill was running and how they treated Michelle Obama when Barack was running.

I happened to see this clip at my vets office this afternoon and the reaction among the other patrons --- all strangers --- was surprisingly voluble and hostile. One woman made a face and said to her friend, "who does she thinks she is?" A man sitting on the other side of the room said, "if they didn't do anything wrong, they shouldn't be worried." The girl behind the counter said, "she looks guilty about something."

(3,626 posts)If they're only giving 10%, that means the ONLY 'charity' they're giving to is the Mormon Church, which is required of them. I wish someone would call them on that.
Off topic, but I just realized that the outfit she's wearing is exactly the type of outfit Michelle wears. Coincidence?? I don't think so.
Edited to add the off topic.

(13,006 posts)It sounds like Mitt not only doesn't believe in letting any loophole go unexploited... he is just as adamant about not giving a dollar more to charity than he needs to as he is about not giving a dollar more to the government than he needs to. What a sweetheart!
So, once you accept that his overall goal is too hold onto every dollar he can, how do you think he determines what to give to the church? Probably not 10% of gross income... probably 10% of taxable net income, which, it has been postulated, may well have been zero in many years.
No tax returns? We don't know if it's really 10%, and even if it is, we don't know what it's 10% of. Regardless of her statement, nobody (including the Mormon church, for that matter) has any idea what percentage of his true income is really going to "charity."

(1,370 posts)You know, to make them more like "regular folk" would have their pictures. Because we regular folk aren't very smart and we don't know how to arrange things and keep them tidy.

I think the pair of them are despicable.

(64,688 posts)that they thought they would get away with not being open about their taxes.
What an arrogant son of a bitch.
If the fucking press lets them get away with this they will be complicit.
Hope the press hammers the living shit out of them.
