I had posted here before the election about how quickly these new folks will be down in D.C. after the election in order to go through orientation, get their access badges, find out where their offices will be (many of which will be where loser GOP reps will be clearing out) and also vote on the leadership positions... So hopefully more of these types of articles will continue to be posted to educate on the Civics 101 of elections and what happens just afterwards - all before they are officially sworn in!

We are in Washington DC this week for new member orientation.
Wow! Love it! How exciting! I'm expecting great things from her.

Personally, I find her to be the MOST impressive first-term congresswoman to be sworn in next year. Every indication so far shows me that she takes her job seriously and approaches things with dignity and respect... especially when it comes to the senior leaders of our great Democratic party.

I am ready to get to work for the people of #KS03!
Exactly. She's going to be great!

elected her 53-44, which is a great sign. I love that she's so eager to go to work. Wonder what committee assignments she'll get.

I used to live in Davids' district and am so happy they finally ousted that worthless frat boy, Kevin Yoder. I think she'll do a really great job for her district and I wish her all the best! Way to go Kansas Congressional District 3!

Recently near Pelosi's offices.

But we also know a lot more about what transpired... I think Cortez was actually being responsive to people who supported her, and I have no issue with that - that's actually her job. She and Pelosi are on the same page so the dust-up is really curious and very much a manufactured sensationalist spectacle. I wasn't bothered when I first learned of it when I had less information, and with more information now and learning more about what those activists wanted, I think we just need to let these young women settle in and represent their districts best they can. I also don't expect Cortez and Davids to be similar in their approach or focus.
