Matching signatures in Georgia.....

My signature on my drivers license is a mess. Here you sign on a reader like at the grocery store or Home Depot. When I sign on paper my signature looks a lot better.
They don't match.

1. The whole "exact" match is only to suppress the vote.

With my osteoarthritis my signature has changed over the years. From time to time, essential tremors become unpredictably active and that gives my signature a jerky and sectional appearance to it (imagine signing your name when riding on a bumpy road).

Ten years ago, I had a very neat Palmer script signature. Now it looks something like this and would definitely NOT match my "on file" signature.



The onset of this and Parkinson's typically begins in one's mid-60's and onward. I imagine this is something that's quite common in states with many retirees.

2. Excellent point re reader signatures. They are unrecognizable!

4. I noticed that after I retired my signature gradually changed. During my work life I had to sign off

on a lot of things virtually every day. Over time my signature became less legible and more of a henscratch. After retirement I was no longer in a hurry and the signature has reverted back to something similar to my younger days.


When I got my voter registration years ago, there was no particular reason to remember exactly what my signature looked like. It was immaterial. Same applies to driver's license.To change the rules years later and make matching signatures a requirement is blatant voter suppression.

Even if I have no physical issue bothering me, my signature depends upon how busy I am and how many times per day I have to do it.

Good thing we don't have to match signatures because my actual signature looks nothing like this. She agreed whole heartedly.
