(176,828 posts)There is also a large number of Democrats who support Nancy Pelosi.
I know that the GOP hates Pelosi but I am not sure that is a good reason to change leadership.

(113,241 posts)supporting the aim of booting the most experienced and accomplished Speaker for one that is RW-approved, apparently. So, I hardly see evidence of anyone suppressing your "free speech"....
We all can look forward to the "success" that will bring after our hard-fought efforts to reclaim the House.

Let's not pretend like this is some new Russian plot or that these folks really just hate women. Pelosi is not without her flaws and she's slowly losing her caucus.
And honestly, the entire fact that we're worried about no one being able to take her place, no woman specifically, is a huge black mark in my book against the entire leadership. They've all been there long enough to groom successors. This shouldn't even be a point of contention in 2018.
She needs to stop the bleed or work out some exit speakership package with them because the folks that want her gone or want someone new aren't going to go away peacefully. They're just going to wait until their numbers grow.

(2,897 posts)There still isn't an alternative out there campaigning against her formally yet. I doubt that she loses, but this definitely has to shape how she handles her upcoming speakership.

(31,743 posts)I suppose some of the Democrats in Congress in 2016 blamed Pelosi with the election results, but I think, to be fair, she should get a lot of credit for the success for the big House gains in 2018.

(38,066 posts)...but how one does so might veer into directions that DU member juries may think qualify as bashing Democratic public figures.
Ask yourself: Did the "suppressed" speech consist of loaded terms?

Also, free speech doesn't mean what you seem to think it means. Maybe you should look it up before you refer to it again

(58,912 posts)Screenshot of the admins chastising you (which they have never done before to anyone) or it didn't happen.
Edit to add: I see you've had 3 posts hidden. That's not the admins talking to you. That is three different juries saying whatever you posted is obnoxious and doesn't belong here.

(58,785 posts)Some people have committed to removing the highest ranking woman in American political history -- literally without having the slightest idea who or what would replace her.
The people gave Democrats the house majority for the new 116th congress. It could fail. It could be made to fail. Taking out experienced, proven leadership is the first, critical step. The second is substituting a weaker, less competent substitute.
Another part is simple misogyny, of course, on right AND left. Where're the noise and passion for taking out 79-year-old Steny Hoyer (Stanny who?) in this supposed year of the woman?
Then there are the #FiveWhiteMen who are also against Pelosi, but all mostly for selfish reasons of personal benefit. None have the leadership experience or admiration of their colleagues that they should, but with support of clueless ideologues and Republicans as necessary one could conceivably manage to make enough deals to get elected.
Btw, the rest of the caucus is gravely concerned. This is their business, and they're not all innocent tools and underprincipled opportunists by any means. They know all that's behind this.

(36,909 posts)they use theirs to speak back and then accuse them if infringing upon yours.
You got something to say, say it.
Dont like what someone says back, too bad. It is not an infringement on your speech.

The house minority leader has been accused of the same thing on occasion.

(12,448 posts)If not, your free speech hasn't been suppressed. Having a post hidden on DU doesn't count. Neither does someone arguing with you. Having an opinion different from yours doesn't count either.

IMO, Pelosi deserves the speaker job.
And she has the votes to get it.
More power to her!
But anybody with a different opinion
is always free to speak.
