1. We got out the vote.

2. We were relatively free of anti-Democrat leftists taking up right wing conspiracy theories.

The right wing lies and smears are much less effective when we reject them.

It is easier to win when we're not fighting on two fronts.

Too bad about Florida, where #2 didn't hold true and we lost.

The two are not unrelated. The purpose of the conspiracy theories is to sow discord and discontent and thus discourage us from voting. Is that marginal? It sure is but elections are won and lost on the margins.
