He was just elected as Iowa State Auditor, a bigger deal in Iowa than in many other states. He has a very public career as a successful prosecutor behind him, but comes from a rural part of the State and knows his people backwards and forwards. Unlike Ernst, he is intelligent, honest, and sincere. He's a long shot for now, but two years is an eternity in politics. Watch out for the name Rob Sand. He may consider 2020 too early to try for national office.

He was able to get into Brown from Iowa, but returned to Iowa to get his law degree on a merit scholarship. Seems like he has a great story, but I agree that it might be a bit too soon to challenge Ernst in 2 years.
