I'm 100% glad of and behind her refusal to concede this stolen election. I will never regard Kemp as a legitimate official. He belongs in prison for his crimes.

“They can complain that I should not use this moment to recap what was done wrong or to demand a remedy. You see, as a leader I should be stoic in my outrage and silent in my rebuke. But stoicism is a luxury, and silence is a weapon for those who would quiet the voices of the people. And I will not concede because the erosion of our democracy is not right. ...

So let's be clear -- this is not a speech of concession, because concession means to acknowledge an action is right, true or proper. As a woman of conscience and faith, I cannot concede that. But, my assessment is the law currently allows no further viable remedy.

Now, I can certainly bring a new case to keep this one contest alive, but I don't want to hold public office if I need to scheme my way into the post. Because the title of governor isn't nearly as important as our shared title -- voters. And that is why we fight on."

One failed gubernatorial bid does not elevate a person to presidential material. The White House is not a consolation prize for being wronged by a bigoted asshat like Kemp, sorry.

She’s never won a statewide campaign or served in any sort of capacity at the Federal level. Her experience doesn’t extend beyond her own Georgia House district.

Her electability even at the Dem primary level is almost zero compared to the other names being bandied about for 2020.

She’s only 45. Win a state or Federal election, gain the experience, and we’ll talk again in ten or fifteen years.

that excludes a lot of big names I've been seeing here on DU, many names who are not nearly as qualified as Abrams.

When one's high-water mark is minority leader of a state legislature for 11 years, no, that isn't enough to say that one is qualified to run the country. I mentioned the loss to Kemp to note that it should not be used as a pity/consolation reason.

People get worked up when a flavor-of-the-moment person takes the spotlight, they lose their heads and do the "Person for President 20XX!" cheer-leading.

Remember "Avenatti 2020!" ? How's that sounding right abut now?

Being black and UNAFRAID is the terror of the RW white men. Obama was unafraid and they knew it. That is why they called out every resource to obstruct him, smear him, and defy him. He still beat them but the country did not advance as much as it would have had the McConnells and Grahams and the Wall Street not opposed him and stayed out of the game until he was out of office.
Times are a little different now and someone like Stacey would get a bit more support and less obstruction against sound economic policies and fair civil rights and environmental justice issues. People generally appreciate and follow a fearless servant leader.

"I don't like losers," Trump, a Republican presidential contender for 2016, said at the Iowa Family Leadership Summit during a question-and-answer session.

Moderator Frank Luntz described McCain — a former naval pilot taken prisoner for almost six years during the Vietnam War — as a "war hero."

"He's not a war hero," Trump said mockingly. "He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured."

But sure, let's nominate Stacey Abrams who could not beat Brian Kemp, yet will somehow beat Donald Trump. Makes perfect sense to me. I can already think of at least two dozen candidates that would have a better chance, but let's go with Abrams just because????

In 2016 she cosponsored a gun bill that would have banned so-called assault weapons and required that current owners either sell them to someone out of state or turn them in.

178 16-11-117.
179 (a) Notwithstanding Code Sections 16-11-115 and Code Section 16-11-116, any person
180 who possesses any assault weapon or large capacity magazine on July 1, 2016, shall have
181 until October 31, 2016, to accomplish any of the following actions without any prosecution
182 under the law:
183 (1) Modify such assault weapon or large capacity magazine to render it permanently
184 inoperable or such that it is no longer an assault weapon or large capacity magazine; or
185 (2) Surrender such assault weapon or large capacity magazine to the Georgia Bureau of
186 Investigation for destruction pursuant to this part.
http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/20152016/154275.pdf

Even though she didn't campaign on banning/confiscating guns and didn't mention it at all on her campaign webpage, the NRA hit her hard on it and it cost her the election. That will never go away.

I know many people here will like this record, but confiscating firearms will never win the presidency.
