She has been in congress since 2008. She was Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus. She was the first female and first African-American mayor pf Warrensville Heights. And, before being elected congress in a special election, she was the Chief of Staff of Stephanie Tubbs Jones, a Democrat as well
