7. In many states cash bail is 10% of the posted amount.

So it would have been $15,000 posted. But that is a lot for most people.

9. That would be 15 grand to the bail-bondsman, who then puts up the rest.

Then the bail bondsman gets 100% of the refunded bail when you show up to court.

Here in California, anyway.

But in my experience, the money you pay the bail bondsman is money you never see again.

with a payment plan for the associated fees. I knew a guy who worked at one for a while.
