Gallup: Obama gets low marks on economy

President Obama continues to get low marks for his handling of the economy, says a new Gallup Poll.

Only 37% of those surveyed approve of Obama's performance on "creating jobs," the poll said. His marks are lower on "the economy" in general (36%) and "the federal budget deficit" (30%).

Obama gets higher marks on battling terrorism (58%), education (49%), and foreign affairs (48%).

That they should blame congress for the economy. How is that not clear?

2. The economy is bad and people will blame anyone in the government for that.

It's better than it was when it started, but with a bad economy he'll get bad poll numbers for that whether the economy is his fault or not, just because he's the guy on top when the economy is bad.

That's a genuine question, I'm not sure, except that there was a surplus at the end of his second term.

product of the economic boom, not any clinton policies.

clinton's economic policies included "reform" of welfare, the telecom bill, nafta, increased taxation of social security, and other dubious crap.

so all I'm saying is that I understand the historic ignorance that is allows for such promotion or demonization.

I don't agree with the ignorance, but I understand it having seen it in many election cycles. It's Bush's economy when it fails, it's Clinton's when it succeeds, or so the average joe seems to think, and hence I understand the outcome of this poll.

when every single time he talked about it I'd be asking him about his taxes. I hope the pressure keeps up on him about that.
