After Grassley rips John Roberts, Avenatti tells the former to "go to law school"

Chuck Grassley yesterday joined Donald Trump in his attack on John Roberts, SCOTUS judge.
The response by Michael Avenatti was priceless:

and should not be working much less "serving" in Congress. We need to stop this nonsense of 85 yr olds still performing a dis-service to our Congress. Ugh.

There's no Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Some people ripen nicely, improving with age. Others are like Grassley.

I've spent much time with wonderful elderly people, so I feel very strongly about this.

It's true that one cannot reliably equate age with wisdom, but it's certain that we shut them out only to our collective detriment.

I'm sorry he ever got into politics, but his age alone is, or should be, in my opinion, irrelevant.

When you start telling people to butt out at a certain age, you lop off a lot of wonderful people with those that have become increasingly addled.

Is Jimmy Carter too old to be involved? I think not. I'd welcome him.

When the bull ball buster won his seat.

But we are stuck here with DeWine and Husted. DeWine out lied Trump before the election about Cordray but the areas that are most in need of welfare and Medicaid voted for him. Never mind he does not want Medicaid in Ohio.

Pelosi is a good example. She knows all the ins-and-outs of House procedural rules and how to use them and she is still on top of her game.

I spent much of my day at work thinking on this matter. It's complex in some ways, and many of us own a very personal perspective on it.

One thing we can all likely agree to is that the fewer republicans there are in government, regardless of age, the better our government will be.

I think she should have resigned during Obama's tenure so that he could recommend someone like her.

I really believe that if you have to withdraw money from your retirement funds at age 69 or whatever the age is, you should have to retire then too. And I'm 59 so I know what age discrimination is and have been living it for a decade because I can't find a job. I don't know anyone that lays on their death bed and wishes they could have worked longer. Nobody.

It helps me better understand your views on this matter.

I'm also 59, and I've seen many jobs for which I've applied go to younger, less experienced applicants who aren't very good at what they do, and don't care.

I hope something greatly rewarding comes to you soon.

On June 15, 2004, Whitaker was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa by President George W. Bush. The appointment was at the recommendation of Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, in spite of Whitaker's minimal relevant legal experience.
