(2,542 posts)just don't think he's got enough fighting spirit for the nastiness. I don't think he can go toe to toe like someone like Elizabeth Warren. And I'm NOT suggesting she be the candidate. Just saying it will take someone nimble-witted and very scrappy.

(25,667 posts)I'd sure vote for him. But, I think he is currently needed destroying trump via live televised hearings.
Besides, he's young enough to run in 4 or 8 years. He's 58.

I'm a huge fan of the guy. I always watch clips of his interviews any chance I get. I just don't know if he is the right guy the run against Trump. (though if Trump doesn't run for a second term, he could beat the shit out of someone like Pence with no problem).

(22,976 posts)I have enormous respect for Adam Schiff, he's been a tireless public servant. But as a presidential candidate, his methodical and modest style wouldn't defeat the raging, big-money right-wing machine.
Democrats have so many Republican-planted obstacles to overcome (Electoral College, voter suppression, gerrymandering, right-wing attack-media, etc.) that a Democratic candidate will need to have a broad appeal, like Barack Obama had, to breach all those walls.
But Schiff would be ideal in a cabinet post.

Nancy Pelosi is soft spoken also but is a bulldog getting things done.
Schiff would make a fine president, but I do like him better heading the intelligence committee right now.

(25,667 posts)I am hopeful that he can help take down trump and his cabal. But, I have no clue if he is pro NRA or pro voter disenfranchisement or anti LGBT. Do you have any idea about any of this?
We know he has taken down crime bosses. I don't think we know much about his political positions other than that he has always been a republican. What republicans stand for makes me sick.

(2,227 posts)So we need someone who can qualify in that arena, but who is also young(ish), smart, comfortable in front of the camera, telegenic, and willing to go to the mat with the TRUTH, against the lies that are going to be thrown at them. No hemming, hawing or hedging in an effort to seem "fair and balanced", which has been redefined (read perverted) by Faux News.
I believe we will have a few of those possible candidates to choose from, both for the pres and vp slots, hopefully setting up a continuance of democratic presidents.
Adam is great, and will hopefully be instrumental in bringing down turdface, but as a presidential candidate, he is too calm and collected, which sometimes comes across as having too little fire and passion. We need someone that can express some of the anger that all of US are feeling.
I, personally, am in no need of a compromising, reach across the aisle politician.
To compromise means to give up ground. We have already given up so much ground that we have lost our identity as a party.
Republicans have kept moving so far to the right that being in the center means that we must compromise on everything that defines us, equality, fairness, choice, church as state, just to name a few.
They want to rid us of all immigrants. They want control over a woman's body and the choices she makes with it. They want to reverse all lgbtq advances. They would GLADLY install a christian version of sharia law.
All of those "compromises" are unacceptable.

(36,975 posts)He'd do it more with intellect than insults, though. But, I believe he wants to concentrate on exposing this evil cabal for what it is. Running for president is like 3 full time jobs, and my feeling is he won't give up his chance to help bring Chump to justice.
