7. They can just do what Nixon and the GOP did in the 70s

Have the VP (Spiro Agnew in 1973, Pence today) fall on their sword first. Then the President picks a new VP (potentially minority leader) from the GOP to replace them so that when the president falls on his sword, the GOP continue to control the Oval Office.

Like everyone else, the GOP don't care about Trump or Pence. With the Dems taking the House, it is time for them to get ready for 2020 - which probably means throwing Trump under the bus in the best way for them to garner public support.

all a republican senate needs is about an hour between pence and donnie going for a new republican veep to be nominated and confirmed. absent a death or two, pelosi will not be president, and the new republican president is unlikely to be ryan, either.

in any event, even if mueller revealed damning information/indictments/whatever tomorrow, donnie would neither resign nor be impeached for months. these things take some time to play out.

11. Don't assume for a second that Pence would resign just because Trump did

No matter what evidence there was out there against him, Pence would launch his own evil crusade the second he took the oath of office, and he would bring the temple's walls down around him before ever voluntarily surrendering the Oval Office to Nancy Pelosi.

No chance this happens before January third 2019, and probably (unfortunately) not before Inauguration Day 2020 either. Mueller would have to have something more explosive than C-4 in his arsenal (not that I'm counting that out altogether).

We can always hope.

Funny thing is, Pelosi had to have known Pence when they were both Congresscritters. I wonder if she has some recollection of interacting with him while he was there (although he may have considered it taboo talking to any "mother" other than his own...).

Agnew had an overwhelming amount of crimes and took the resignation to avoid a long stretch in prison. Pence as far as we know, is relatively clean.

The Speaker doesn't move into the vice presidency upon a vacancy - vacancy in the VP slot is filled by the president with the approval of both houses of Congress. The Speaker only becomes President if the president dies, resigns or is removed and there is no vice president.
