3. Not sure I'd go that far, but...

...I remember, many months into the Watergate scandal, the morning the news broke that, in addition to all his electoral malfeasance, Nixon had also used federal funds for expensive improvements and renovations to his personal homes in San Clemente and Key Biscayne. While most of us were thinking this was another drop in the bucket after everything from enemies' lists to taping Oval Office meetings, my father announced that, now, Nixon was really finished. His reasoning is that everything so far had been in the realm of electoral politics, and most Americans considered that "inside baseball" stuff; everyone did it and it was part of the game. However, once it came down to something as simple-to-understand and personalized as "the bastard was using my tax dollars to enrich himself," the tide would turn.

Will this have the same impact? Hard to say, but it might be the little matters of simple graft and corruption that bring down this presidency, as much as attacks on our democracy.

be far behind too. He's had his own share of lying to the American people. I'm sure he's up to his eyeballs as well.
