This question is particularly for those who think only nice things should be said about a person when they die. After a president dies I think there is kindness in focusing on their good qualities and good things they did during their life, even if they did a lot of bad stuff as well. But what about a person like tRump who really has no good qualities and has no good accomplishments?

(10,908 posts)but to be forthright, I'd be tempted because it probably describes how I would feel
If he dropped dead tomorrow, as much as I can't stand Pence, I think the entire world would be better off - including his own family. I don't wish that on anyone. It's just what I feel because he is such a despicable human being.

(10,908 posts)but it won't go down that way. The GOP will get Pence to fall on his sword first in exchange for a pardon and install a Republican as VP like they did with Gerald Ford. They're not going to hand the Dems a couple of years of the Oval office. They enabled Trump.
ooky
(10,922 posts)Hadn't thought that through. It would take some really unusual circumstances to get to the Speaker. Damn those pesky VPs.
Jarqui
(10,908 posts)and have for some time.
They needed Trump to get Kavanaugh. Since they couldn't hang on to the House, they'll get as many judges in as they can and distance themselves from him by 2020.
They don't care about Trump now. They never did. Like us, they probably can't stand him. Their concern with Mueller is their own butts. That's why they want the hammer to shut Mueller down.
They'll throw Trump and maybe Pence's carcass to the media feeding frenzy and try to skulk away hoping we won't notice that they enabled what went down here and are up to their eyeballs in oligarchs Rubles.

(6,122 posts)When a president dies, no matter what the circumstances. tRump has a long history in the public eye before he ever considered politics in a serious way. There is plenty of fodder from those years and most of it is not flattering in any way. He left plenty of quotes, photographs and bad decisions littering his path.
Once he set his sights on politics, he has left even more ugliness and nasty quotes and behavior to mark his passage through life. News commentators will have a hell of a time putting together a biography of his life without showing him for the narcissist he is and has been for his entire life. If there are good things to say about him (and Im struggling to think of anything good to say about him), they will be lost in an avalanche of negativity about him that truthfully began in childhood. He really is what some would call a Bad Seed, doomed from birth to be a misfit, screwed up pathetic excuse for a human being.

(130,516 posts)(OK, maybe Dick Cheney, too, at least a little bit). All the other dead GOPers I can think of had at least some positive attributes and did some good during their lives, but I can't think of anything good about Trump. There's no evidence that he's ever done anything selfless, kind or charitable; that he actually loves anybody (well, maybe Ivanka, but in a creepy way); that he's ever done anything to benefit anyone but himself; or that he's ever helped anyone without any expectation of a reward. He doesn't like children or animals. He doesn't support the arts; he doesn't enjoy music and he doesn't like art unless the art consists of paintings of him. He doesn't appreciate nature. He doesn't like foreign travel. He doesn't even appreciate good food (well-done steak with ketchup? Really?). The only people he likes are foreign despots and people who flatter him, and even the flatterers get thrown under the bus the minute they stop flattering. I truly can't think of anything positive about him; he's a human black hole who contributes only negative energy to the universe. I will be very glad when he's gone and I won't hesitate to do a happy little two-step.

(9,707 posts)or at least losing his second term after this year's blue wave showed the country's disgust of his policies. He will be remembered for running the most corrupt administration ever, as evidenced by the Mueller investigation's many convictions and indictments with more to come, much as Nixon is remembered primarily for the Watergate scandal and leaving office in disgrace.
Unlike Nixon who at least got the EPA established and opened up trade with China, Trump has thus far not done a single redeeming thing for which history might remember him kindly. In modern times, while some presidents did hold closet racist views, none were overt nor openly fanning the flames of bigotry and hate. No president has done more to undermine American values or our constitution, though there have certainly been erosion of rights under other presidents such as the Patriot Act. But nobody else has sought to take away birthrights of immigrants' babies, or praised and emboldened white supremacists, or threatened our entire planet by refusing to acknowledge the science of climate change, or boasted of grabbing women by the pussy, as a married man. Nobody else has done business with Russia or had a campaign that conspired with a foreign government to win an election through illegal means, and no one has been a serial liar about virtually everything.
I also thought the Bushes were overall bad presidents especially W, but now see that they were not in the same league as Trump by any means. Trump will be rotting in the pits of hell when he dies, deservedly so. And he should not be remembered with a shred of decency, at least based on what he has done so far.

(1,376 posts)Nixon was a crook, but he was a smart crook who had grown up poor, was essentially a self-made man, an attorney, had been a professional politician, and had friends who eased his way out.
Trump is a crook, he's a stupid man who was born rich, inherited his wealth, depended on his father's business circles to buy his way into his lifestyle, was a poorly educated "businessman", is an amateur politician, and has no friends beyond those he can buy.
He will die in federal prison, is my bet.
