2. They tried to schmooze him at first (2yrs ago), but he basked in the attention only to turn around

and behave like a petulant asshole anyway when it came time to make policy decisions.

All that buddy-buddy stuff was unpopular amongst their own people given how much trash Trump talked about their nations, it had been a calculated risk to see if they could get something out of him but it failed.

So if kissing his ass doesn't work, and he's on the ropes politically/legally at home in the US anyway, why bother looking like a moron yourself by cozying up to him?
