The Medicare cutoff is often defined as under 55 years old. Is that what it states ? Or, did the plan say birthdate in 1955 - but since the plan came out in 2010 someone born in 1955 would have been 55 then?
I believe it is an important point to let those 56 and 57 year olds know that they did not get in "under the wire".
Thanks.

Eligibility for the traditional Medicare program would not change for people who are age 55 or older by the end of 2011 or for people who receive Medicare benefits through the Disability Insurance program prior to 2022. As a result, the average age and average costs of enrollees remaining in the traditional Medicare program would increase over time. However, enrollees premiums under traditional Medicare would be adjusted to equal what they would be under current lawa so-called hold harmless provision. People covered under traditional Medicare would, beginning in 2022, have the option of switching to the premium support system.

(64,386 posts)that anyone currently 55 or over would not be affected by his plan. They would be grandfathered in to the current Medicare plan. That's where the "55" thing comes from.
Of course, they leave out/skip over the other part of their plan that would repeal the ACA, thus ending the move to close the donut hole in Medicare Part D and raise drug prices for seniors. There are other problems, too, like how the vouchers would certainly NOT cover all the costs involved and would end up costing seniors more and further erode care and services.
