Bush v Gore. HW had James Baker fly all over the state of Florida in an Enron provided private jet in order to stop the counting of legal and legitimate Americans vote.
We are still paying the price for those actions.

What an ugly comment.

(1,480 posts)but went with Clinton afterward. I didn't like what Bush stood for, and that was when I switched parties to Dem. I was in the Army when Clinton was elected, and my right-wing superior officer, upon hearing about my vote, groused at me, "He's a liar!" I said one simple thing in reply: "Read my lips."
That shut him up.

(66,380 posts)I voted for Bush in 1988, but switched to Clinton in 1992 while I was in the Army.
I was surrounded by right-wing Bush supporters in the Army, too. What a collection of reprobates...
Welcome to DU!
Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

my "read my lips" statement was meant to demonstrate that Bush was a liar, too. That was a direct response to the officer's calling Clinton a liar. If the officer's complaint against Clinton was legitimate, then he should not have voted for Bush, either.
Lies are lies, no matter who tells them.

Show that much respect at least. Why does everything EVERYTHING have to be political. He was a human being for goodness sake.

(51,607 posts)I have been watching old Murphy Brown reruns and it brings back a lot of very unpleasant (no, unforgivable) memories of his actions during those 4 years alone. Add the time before and out of office and his behavior and decisions have contributed negatively to where we are today as nation. We would have been MUCH better off as a whole country without any of the Bushes and Reagun. Their choices were criminal and effected the country negatively over a long period of time. I am not a hypocrite and shed no tears over the loss of him.
I think people are so fucking desperate for someone, anyone, to act even slightly presidential that we have forgiven all the past GOP behavior in comparison with the current fake prez.

Perhaps we should all go back and reread "Family of Secrets".
