Read these two articles side-by-side:

https://www.salon.com/2018/12/02/beware-the-bipartisan-trap-democrats-should-resist-pointless-compromise/

Wherein the author laments that it's always the Democrats who are supposed to reach out and make bipartisan compromises.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/12/2/1815431/-Senate-Republican-warns-of-civil-war-if-Democrats-continue-supporting-the-Federal-government?utm_campaign=trending

Wherein republican Senator Mike Lee says that the only to prevent a new civil war ripping the US apart, is for the Democrats to drop their “angry political rhetoric driving our politics toward violence” and to join the Republicans in their efforts to
* turn States into sovereign entities
* eliminate pretty much the whole federal government, including but not limited to:
** education
** the interstate highway-system
** Department of Commerce
** housing policy
** workforce regulations
** federally owned land
** federal child labor laws
** Social Security
** Medicare

8. I try to see both sides. I also don't hate Republicans automatically.

Hatred is so common these days. But this is a simple truth: We're right, they're wrong. That really is TRUE.

Resist.

13. Working with Republicans is striking a deal with the devil.

The Republicans seethe with hatred and have one objective, our destruction. They are willing to destroy the nation rather than work for the common good. The situation is not one that lends itself to cooperation and compromise. They are so determined that they are even willing to work with the sworn enemies of our nation. It is not an exaggeration is charge them with treason.

14. That's sadly true, these days. It wasn't always that way.

It was a difference of how the two sides see things, but there were areas of common ground, and most of both sides really wanted what was best for the country.

That's not the case, anymore. The party is a Trump Party, now. Not a Republican Party. The establishment old guard people no longer have a place in the Trump Party. I hope that doesn't happen to our party; sometimes when one side goes extreme, the other side retreats to the other extreme in response. So far, we're doing pretty well. We all have the main goal in our sights: dealing with the infiltration of Russia into our government (which means dealing with Trump and hopefully Trump Congressional politicians who represent Russia).

The Democrats must remain focused with a stead message. I agree and hope that the party doesn't follow the extremes that have decimated the Republican Party. Have a nice day.

12. How long would these Republican states last without the federal government. Give them what they want

autonomy see how long they last without money from democratically held states. Inside of a year without federal assistance these states will be on their knees and the Republican Party will be voted into oblivion. Just a dream but nice to think about.
