The more that comes out about Truman, the more respect I think he gets from history... I might even forgive him for not wanting a dog in the White House (no, the cocker spaniel given to him was not allowed to stay... google it)

Certainly he made mistakes, we all do. Certainly there were things he did with which I disagree but on the whole I believe he did a superb job and was always on the job trying to do what was right.

I think we have these ‘animals’ on the run. Privately, I refer to McCarthy as a pathological liar, and Wherry as the block-headed undertaker from Nebraska. Of course, we can’t do that publicly, but there’s no doubt that’s exactly what they are.

As for McCarthy, well he was a Russian Troll. It's pretty obvious to me just from the way he behaved. I wouldn't be surprised if they found a ham radio and a wad of rubles in his office after he died.
