Peace on Earth?: Dedham church uses nativity scene to spark conversation about immigration
Peace on Earth?
Thats the question displayed above a nativity scene in Dedham that features the baby Jesus inside a black metal cage and the three wise men cut off from Mary and Joseph by a fence-like barrier.
The unconventional holiday arrangement outside of St. Susanna Parish was set up over the weekend to mark the start of Advent Sunday.

(12,590 posts)Personally, I tip my hat to the Church leaders who approved the display (I'm assuming they approved). What better way to remind people that the way refugees are being treated, how children have been locked in cages has nothing remotely to do with the Christmas message.
Baby Jesus in a cage. Bite on that Evangelicals!

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
