Cmon, step right up and be Trumps legal counsel. Get up and state the defense of your client.
Its okay, you couldnt do worse than his own actual lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
Tonight Im going with:
Well, yes, he directed people to do illegal stuff, but you make it sound as if he did it because it was illegal. He didnt know any of that stuff was illegal. Heck, his own lawyer, Michael Cohen, told him it was legal. He didnt know any of that stuff was illegal and hes shocked to find out that his lawyers knew all that stuff was illegal and never said anything. So, you see, Trump couldnt have been doing anything illegal, since he didnt even know it was.
You know, in criminal law, the defendant has to have a menstrualia, or a mens room, or whatever the fuck the Latin phrase is for not having a guilty mind, heart, or anything else.
And Id tell Trunp he could start tweeting about how he doesnt have menorrhea, or whatever.

(5,479 posts)but, if his lawyers are smart they'll go for an insanity defense.
That should be a slam-dumk for them.

(42,641 posts)I would be committing a crime because I am not a lawyer.
But seriously, my defense would be as follows:
You have all seen what Trump has said, and done, for the past 2 years most intensively, but for his entire life.
Quite frankly members of the jury, my client is an idiot, has always been an idiot, and is incapable of behaving as anything other than the idiot he truly is.
As to your lawyer talk about mens rea, get rea(l), there is no mens.

(5,501 posts)And the president cannot obstruct justice because he oversees the justice department. That's like telling a boss he can't tell his direct reports what to do.
That is what I think is coming next...
