4. I generally love the Onion, but the sad reality is that the satire isn't really even that deep.

Republicans have literally attempted, and in large part succeeded in keeping an unpopular minority party in power in the state. It isn't a joke and cannot be made funny. Democrats won the majority of votes for representation in the state but were significantly shut out in the state legislature. The Governor has been stripped of power, the Attorney General has been hamstrung and has lost autonomy.

The Onion is talking about extremes, but the GOP is actually using extremes (and succeeding) in ignoring the will of the voters. Unlike in North Carolina, the Courts will not save Wisconsin because those too were packed with extremist conservatives.

5. Wisconsin became controlled by the GOP when too many on the Left stayed home in 2010.

Elections have consequences and we still suffer the consequences of that election today.
