The political rules I was taught many years ago

When I was a young man 45 years ago, I was a member of college young republicans. We were a very strong and active club which support Roger Stone when he ran for mid-west chairman. Stone taught us that in politics:
1- What may be is not important, what is important is what is perceived. Perception is all.
2- The action is not as important as what is spoken about the action.
3- Communicate thru emotion, not logic or reason.

As you may know, Stone first suggested Trump run for President and taught Trump everything he knows about politics.

It's all about the "gut" for most people. Analysis takes valuable time and effort. It's not that people don't want to understand, but you need to get their attention. After you get their attention you have to tailor your speech to fit their needs or desires, and it has to be something they can remember. A 2 or 3 word catch phrase like " axis of evil" or " death tax", both developed by Frum, keeps issues and responses in people's minds. He also understands fear is the way to keep people motivated, fight or flight is survival mode.
