1. Wish I could hope that weren't true.

But I know better.

2. Sad but True

We are seeing this Republican philosophy play out in real time in Wisconsin and Michigan, as it has in multiple other states in recent years. This only demonstrates how morally bankrupt Republicans truly are.

28. Morally bankrupt is the only way they are bankrupt!

It is all of the corporate money, future high paying jobs, and sweet perks to incentivize them to represent corporate/plutocratic interests that get them to pull their dirty crap.

The only way to stop it is publicly funded elections, end the revolving door, and prosecute violators severely!

5. Well, Frum . . .

certainly called that in no uncertain terms. We've been watching this materialize over decades. It's just more blatant now, cheating in broad daylight as they scream about voter fraud and immigrants swarming polling places.

The greatest of all projections.

The party that supports and enacts policies that the majority rejects, resorts to ridiculous gerrymandering, voter suppression, scurrilous propaganda, legislative coups and electoral hijinks while embracing authoritarianism and calling it FREEDOM.

Nope. That's sure not democracy.

11. Screw David Frum and what he thinks

Former W Bush speech writer coined the phrase "Axis of Evil"

Liberals need to quote their own people.

13. Frum just recycling an old speech and replacing "liberals" with "conservatives".

Remember, folk, David Frum is a top dollar, skilled, professional outrager. Polished enough to appeal to more dainty readers by avoiding the pratfalls of conservative radio.

Frum supports the same things as Donald Trump, Mitch McConnel and The Koch Brothers. He is just self aware enough to act "outraged" as it happens.

14. I strongly disagree

David Frum is following his belief that trump is corrupt and the entire party seems to be following trump's lead. Frum voted for Hillary in 2016. That doesn't absolve him for things in the past, but it doesn't put him in the same bucket with the rest, either.

I would much rather have a GOP full of David Frumís than what we have now! The country would be in a better place. IMHO.

they have more backbone than to be a member of the party of trump. Many of them have been very outspoken and that's a good thing.

And they have paid for it too but they knew what was correct! I donít have to agree with a single one of their political views to praise them for doing what was correct & loyal to America!

19. as I have stated on here several times

The 2016 election was historically close - if 1 vote in 100 had flipped from Trump to Clinton, it would have been a huge win for her because both FL and NC would have gone to her as well, not just MI, WI and PA.

So, Democrats need every ally they can get. Once Trump is gone and most of his White House is in jail and/or disgraced, we can go back to more civil disagreements.

22. People are underestimating Frum's turn.

He was onto Putin's games long before most people, including many self-described liberals.

I remember after Putin's invasion of Crimea and interference in Ukraine, Frum published an excellent assessment of Putin's motives in The Atlantic. I wanted to post it here to show some of the posters who were--willingly or unwillingly--posting Kremlin propaganda that excused the Russian hostilities. But I figured I would just get shouted down or ignored because of Frum's past associations.

In retrospect, I should have just gone ahead and posted it.

But by all means, we should just post the folks who have been deemed to be sufficiently liberal dating back to the point where they were in utero, correct?

23. I agree, but ...

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend" can be the best solution when used for the short-term; i.e., 2020. After that, we'll see.

24. Thats wrong.

After conservatives realized they couldn't win democratically, they didn't abandon conservatism, they abandoned democracy

I mean, i guess if he wrote it a long time ago, it could have been correct. But we passed that point long ago.

29. Conservativeshave never believed in democracy.

The current talking point on the right is, "America is not a democracy, it is a republic."
Why do conservatives call the Democratic Party the "democrat party."
Because they can't even say the word democratic any more. They are erasing it from their vocabulary.
Look at the actions of Republican state legislatures across the country.
Look at the actions of Republican Secretaries Of State across the country.
Look at the actions of conservatives through the last century and this one.
They gave up on winning democratically decades ago.
Now they just focus their efforts on winning. Whatever it takes.
