You have all the statistics on your side, and BAM! You lose due to a fluke.

So you play the psychology....act like you have a good hand...but don't act like it too much to push everyone out, your there to take as many chips as you can, right? But then, how many possibilities are there that can out match your hand...and with each card played out, the possibility increases. So do you push people out or not? Or, who is just playing stupid? And can stupid win the day?

Every once in awhile, you can do the "tell" you have a good hand while having junk and steal a pot. But not too often, because every once in awhile, you do this when someone has pocket aces....and the flop is in their favor.

I like to play reckless at a table where nobody knows me for a few hands. Like betting big when I have a pair of 9's. Make it look like I'm a dead giveaway. Then when I do get a good hand, do all the same "mistakes"...and take everyone to the cleaners. When I do this online, everyone bails on the game.

Of course I can't use that strategy among friends...they know me too well. Whenever we do play at a full table, the others joke; "well, who wants to do a side bet? we all know the three, one of them will play great but due to the cards will be the first one out, the other two will be the last two at the table. Lets side bet on the first one out and the last two standing."

But yeah, I agree. Poker analogies don't apply to politics.
