Emerson Dem primary poll a bit different from CNN
In this poll, Beto's strength is confirmed at 15% in third place.
Biden (the leader) and Sanders are closer to each other compared to CNN at 26 and 22% respectively. ![]() https://www.emerson.edu/news-events/emerson-college-today/emerson-college-national-poll-trumps-disapproval-matches-all-time-low-americans-are-optimistic-about-new-year-despite-belt#.XBO62c9KhBz

5. ADAM SCHIFF is busy trying to rid our country of the scourge that is drumpf.
SCHIFF takes care of business first; there is plenty of time to run for POTUS later.

3. At this stage it is just name recognition and media coverage. Remember Joementum?

10. "On the Democratic side, six candidates were presented to likely primary voters..."
On the Democratic side, six candidates were presented to likely primary voters, with former Vice President Joe Biden (26%) and Senator Bernie Sanders (22%) leading the field. Beto O'Rourke at 15% was the only other candidate to reach double digits. Biden is popular among baby boomers, aged 55-74, with 39%. Bernie Sanders has the support of those aged 18-34, with 36%.

12. Since "other" is listed, there are 7. Hilarious that you are arguing that 7 is really 6.
That explains a lot.
Well, we can't all be good at math! |

18. There were six options listed in the poll.
A fair number of people chose not to select any of the six options - hence, "other".

11. I HATE polls
Why do people have an obsession with polls? Are they trying to anoint the next dem candidate, as the media did with Hillary 4 years before the 2016 election? Does Vegas have odds on these people? Why am I not included in the poll?

13. These polls exist to divide the Democrats. They are best ignored.
Welcome to DU, btw.

14. People are concerned about the future and want a real leader. Nothing wrong with polls
Polls do not exist to divide us. It's newsworthy to know who is popular among the voters.
For instance, it's surprising to see Sherrod Brown already on the charts. I keep hearing he is not running, and yet there he is. |

16. There is an entire (too long) process to help us choose our next leader.
Deciding who it should be 2 years in advance is folly. Wait and see how people campaign, how their campaigns take off, and what they say about issues and events. Finding your one true love this early is ridiculous. True leaders and good candidates will rise. Personality cults and "only he/she can save us" thinking corrupts the process.

17. I agree waiting for a savior is bad
But that's what you get with a competitive process. Especially in a country this big. There's very much an "early bird gets the worm" dynamic to such a coveted prize. I'm certainly not settling on anyone yet. But that just about guarantees I won't be part of any convention or campaign process.
People will be getting in on the ground floor now and through the rest of 2019 for their candidates. If you ain't saddled up by Thanksgiving, you won't be riding with any one's posse. You'll just be a spectator, cheering from the sidelines. That's how politics works |
