He was between a rock and a hard place. The memo he wrote to the House Judiciary Committee was supposed to be kept confidential. It was Jason Chaffetz who blabbed it to the media without hesitation.

Jim Comey says in his book that since he was employed by the FBI he has not voted and has never taken sides on partisan issues or candidates. His wife votes for Democrats, and he's sounding more like a Dem now too. In FBI senior management, he served both Democratic and Republican Presidents. He was previously a member of the GOP but that had no bearing when Obama appointed him as FBI director for a 10-year term.

I believe Comey has huge regrets about re-opening the investigation of Hillary's emails, and especially how it was handled 10 days before the election.

Committee regarding re-opening the Hillary email investigation 10 days before the election would likely NOT be kept confidential.

Waiting 10 days to send that memo would have meant that we would have had a Democrat in the White House for the past 2 years, and HRC would have
