Of Course Incoming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Wants to Delay Restoring Voting Rights for Felons

On a November ballot stuffed with over a dozen amendments for Floridians to vote on, Amendment 4 was hailed as one of the major wins for progressives and voting rights activists in the Sunshine State and across the nation. With the backing of 65 percent of voters, Amendment 4 passed, granting felons that have served their sentences—about 1.4 million folks in Florida—the right to vote. The amendment’s supporters say it should immediately go into effect on Jan. 8. Shockingly, the incoming Republican governor does not share this view.

Florida Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis said in an interview with the Palm Beach Post published last week that he doesn’t believe the amendment should immediately take effect. Instead, DeSantis wants the measure to be taken up by the state legislature when it convenes its first 2019 session on March 5.

It’s an executive action. File suit to compel executive branch to act. They already know how to issue voter registration cards.

The republicans have cheated us out of restoration of the Everglades, class size limitations, the bullet train, and now this, all of which were voted in by the people.

The current Governor, Felonious Rick Scott, virtually ignored the wishes the voters in regard to purchasing the land necessary for restoring the southern flow of Lake Okeechobee waters. Now, vast areas of coastal Florida in the Southeast and Southwest deal with yearly algae blooms. Further, sea grasses in the estuaries are gone along withe the oysters - and it's only getting worse.

Now we have Racist scumbag Ron DeSantis - he of the child abuse fame in indoctrinating his children in all things Trump.
Amendment 4 passed with the voters just fine, but Racist Ron won't have any of it if he can help it.

As much as I despise Scott and DeSantis (and several dozen other deplorables in Tallahassee), I have to realize that stupid is as stupid does - and Florida has more than it's share of incredibly stupid people. Take Martin County - please. Martin is ground zero for the algae crisis - it's yearly plague is killing tourism and small businesses. Yet, 65% of Martin voters voted for Scott this election (and DeSantis).

Take the Villages - please. The Villages are filled with retirees from the Northeast, many of whom are retired from civil service jobs - you know, socialism. Yet the Villages are the most reliable supporters of the Racist/Anarchy party.

Florida man? Alive and unfortunately well.
