I still have his sticker on my Prius, which I drive with my VT plates.
But I'm not feeling it. I'm hoping that Beto steps up

DNC panel adopts rule requiring candidates to run, serve as a Democrat
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/391459-dnc-panel-adopts-rule-requiring-candidates-to-run-serve-as-a-democrat
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) adopted a new rule on Friday aimed at keeping outsider candidates like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) from trying to clinch the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020.
The new rule, adopted by the DNCs Rules and Bylaws Committee, requires all Democratic presidential candidates to be a member of the Democratic Party, Yahoo News reported.
A presidential candidate running for the Democratic nomination must be a member of the party, accept the Democratic nomination and run and serve as a member.

(10,818 posts)Mr. O'Rourke is as progressive as Bernie IMO. He has that charisma and way to connect with the voters in a way that Bernie can't.
Though Bernie vs any Republican... Easy choice. But Bernie vs Beto? For me, Beto.

(60,186 posts)Never, never, EVER take seriously a post using the word "corporatist," ESPECIALLY when used to describe a Democrat.
It's one of those code words that seems to mean, "if you can afford to both eat and pay your rent on time, you're a bad person, and can't be my friend."

I also look forward to sanders tax returns which he will need to file to get onto the ballot in some key states
Eliot Rosewater
(34,285 posts)Gothmog
(179,869 posts)Maryland has a ballot access laws that would block sanders from being on the ballot without releasing tax returns. Several other blue states will also be adopting similar laws.
If sanders wants to be on the ballot in these states, he has to release his tax returns

Enjoy your family AND enjoy DU. It is entirely possible to support Bernie and be here if you can deal with this stuff. At this point I support Bernie but would choose someone younger, female and not white over Bernie if they supported much of what he does. I think right now he is doing really important and good work. While running for president would maybe give him a larger platform for a while I think he is doing really well right now.
Have a great day! Bernie is really awesome and important in our national conversation.

The sure way to divide Democrats is to nominate one of those in 2016 election
We need a new candidate that was not involved in 2016 to unite the party.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
I want someone younger than me (I"m 67) I like Biden but would still
like someone younger. I have read that Democrats do better with younger candidates. I'm tired of old white men (and I'm an old white woman).

There will be other genuine Democratic candidates far more viable than Bernie.
And please, no Bern-splaining replies that tell me how Im off-base, or how the greatness of Bernie will sweep the nation and overwhelm the Electoral College. Ive been there, and the novelty has long since worn thin. On this matter Im adamant.

Yeah. This is Bernie Sanders here. He sees a parade, jumps in front and claims to be the leader. He has an enormous ego. No way he would ever acknowledge someone is better than him.

(5,272 posts)Not that you're being serious here, but by virtue of your jokey argument, anybody who is not status quo who suddenly gets elected is automatically status quo and establishment. You could not elect the same non-establishment candidate a second time because you've made up a ridiculous criterion for judging what establishment means. You are welcome to that kind of definition, but it is rather semantic.
