Manafort’s boss Deripaska wins. After 8 months of delaying sanctions Deripaska’s company Rusal is taken off the sanctions list. This story started in April in Russian press and predictably ended this way

Why does Deripaska keep getting these breaks? Have been following this story all year and thanks to Mnuchin, most likely under the direction of Trump, sanctions against Deripaska’s companies keep getting postponed.

1. China was one of the the loudest proponents

they can't make electronics without Rusal aluminum. Treasury announced over a month ago they would drop the sanctions against Rusal if Deripaska divested.

Don't get me wrong...Deripaska's a damned gangster, but this is like trying to sanction Exxon. I think they're like the second largest producer in the world. Capitalism first, sanctions second...ironic, isn't it?

Russia was considering nationalizing Rusal to get around the sanctions.
