weird..."WE NEED WALL". Are we already an absorbed country? Where the hell is the "THE"?

“We Need Wall”
By Josh Marshall

Here’s one of the weirder dimensions of late 2018 Trumpism. For reasons that are not entirely clear to me the word has apparently come down from the White House that the wall, as in the wall to be built along the southern border, must now be called “wall”. In other words, no definite article, no “the”. President Trump now does this. It was part of a DHS press release a week ago. And today in a congressional hearing, DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told Rep. Tom Marino: “From Congress I would ask for wall. We need wall.”

This is clearly supposed to make some point. But honestly, I’m not sure what the point is. I imagine there have been private conversations in which White House advisors have told cabinet officials “I know you’ll sound dumb. But that’s the way the President wants it and that’s final. ‘We want wall. Give me wall.'”

And I think the last line of the OP has a misquote. He really said "Me want wall. Give me wall. WWWaaa-aaa-aaah!"

You were just another brick in wall.

Yep, it sucks. Can't sing it without imagining a moose or a squirrel singing it.

but made up of different 'wall' (defense) sections, some of it being fence construction, 'virtual fence' defense etc.

on the floor of Congress I have ever seen. Nobody I know who speaks English as their first language would use that construction. Russians would. Chinese speakers would. Not native English speakers. We need A wall. We need THE wall. Not we need wall.

Is now the party of "build this wall", now with barbed wire, electrical currents and a moat with man eating sharks in it. And maybe add the bubble from the Prisoner and some land mines for good measure.

Right after she repeats "We need wall" she does a very subtle smirk or grin, as if she realizes how strange it sounds.

They know how dumb it sounds, but they also can't wait to hear the first trumpanzees start dropping article.
