Does anyone else fear that America will never go back to the way things were before trump?
I’m kinda shaken with the Mattis news.

15. Here's a horror story.Trump resigns. Pence, just by virtue of not being Trump, looks like a hero who
saved the country after Trump leaves. 2 years from now, Pence is now elevated to savior by the MSM and gets elected president. What an awful story and my greatest fear.

3. We are at a tipping point as a nation for sure
The next President will have to be an extraordinary figure. The nation will be greatly divided, but beyond that there's been a President thats been attacking the press, the FBI, the intelligence agencies, the Fed, NATO, Canada, along with many of our allies. There will be much healing that needs to happen but also a return to normalcy with a grand vision for all people, not just a narrow group of supporters of the President. I do fear and am really close to accepting that its likely the new normal now.

5. We will once we get rid of the electoral college!
Popular vote must be the law now! Al Gore, Robert Reich and Michael Moore all agree. If we do not do that we will go through this shit again and again and again. The minority of the greedy, rich white men will continue to rule the majority as they have since Reagun.
In the meantime RESISTANCE is PATRIOTIC! RESIST and vote! ![]() ![]() |

8. There is no way that is going to happen...
A Constitutional amendment to that point would need to be approved by a supermajority of states — many of them the exact small states that benefit the most from the Electoral College.

9. I hope we don't.
We're better off if the tactics and ethics and priorities of foxnews and hate radio and the Republican Party are widely recognized as thoroughly discredited.

10. Life doesn't ever go backward.
President Obama can't be erased no matter how hard they try. And make no mistake, Trump is trying.
That said, Trump and his ilk damaged the nation simply by running. The fact the media gave him center stage at all is appalling. An election and the garbage since is just a matter of course once the media decided to hand him the bullhorn.... We will never be the same because of it. That doesn't mean we have to sit and accept the loss of people power to the hackers, netvocates, foreign agents, money brokers etc. We can take it back. I don't know if we will. |

14. A major part of the problem is that we do not have a single television news channel in America.
We have paid teevee personalities reading whatever their corporate master most profits from.

13. I Do Not Really Fear America Will Never Go Back To the Way It Was Before Trump
As long as Donald Trump can be prevented from completely destroying the Constitution, or starting a nuclear war America will go back to the way it was before Trump. Now, that may depend on getting Democrats elected to the White House in future elections. Republican presidents might just want to keep things the way Trump has made them. I hope any Democrat that is elected in the future will try to bring the country back to the way it was before Trump was elected, at least the good things.

17. Iraq War. Vietnam.
Oppression. Mass shootings. Regressive taxation. Deregulation. Millions uninsured. Forcing undocumented workers to live in the shadows. Bloated military budget. Different justice for those with money.
When you say before, what time period are you talking about? We can fix what Trump has done. Order can be restored in many of the agencies that have been dismantled within two years under competent leadership. Allies will open their arms to a competent President. They are waiting for us to give them one. We are still in the Paris Climate Accord. It will be important that Trump goes down in flames in full sight of those he has harmed. It will help the healing. We are heading toward something better than the ACA. Like many movements, public opinion is reaching a tipping point on that one. We will have power in committees which will be huge in repairing things. We need to keep hitting the tax scam and the fact that many investors used it to pull out and invest elsewhere. In today’s society Democrats will not be harmed by pushing an aggressive progressive tax package. I’m order to maintain power we must put forward a voting rights act that flat out pushes constitutional bounds with respect to federal power in elections.. One of the worst things I think is happening when it comes to quickly turn things around is the enormous increase in distrust when it comes to the federal government. That is harder to get back and is one of the worst enemies to progressives. |

And it’s worse than what we can see or is obvious.

They really have accomplished a lot with the courts. In my ramble I completely forgot about that. Thanks for pissing on my optimism. I was reading an article a couple of days ago about all of the appointments and confirmations. It was a bit horrifying.

21. We are on the path to not having the current United States of America
One major event may split the coastal States from middle America.
We have a Russian agent as pResident, a person who was not voted for by the majority of Americans. The coastal states have been against the repuke changes, vote strongly against the repuke changes, yet due to compromises put in 200+ years ago are forced to live with minority rules. All of our major weaknesses are currently being exploited. We are the only Democracy that is basically tied to a two party system. So a regional minority party exerts undo influence over the majority. Other Democracies call the winner of the popular vote President, Prime Minister, etc. In our country we have majority winners pushed aside due to the Electoral College. |
