So, are we all confident Senate Dems will hold firm tomorrow?

I wish I was. I could just see a few “moderates,” scared of taking the blame for something as “unthinkable” as a shutdown, breaking ranks to vote for cloture. Sure, they’d then vote against the actual measure, but it would pass on Republican votes alone. Trump gets his Wall (and even more adoration from his base), and Democrats get to complain about it for the next two years.

I’m really, really hoping Schumer is willing and able to hold a solid party line on this one.

Will Democrats keep the border wall funding from passing the Senate?

Once that happens, the bill itself only needs 50 + Pence to pass.

Join the Republicans to shut off debate, then vote against the resulting bill itself. That way, it passes, and “moderates” can still claim “I opposed the border wall,” even though they were crucial in helping enable it.

but I think he is righteously pissed off and he and Pelosi will stand their ground.

And McConnell isn't going to blow up Senate rules over a border wall.
