...yesterday. Speculation about who might have ordered that jet and who was on it, and why. Many oligarchs there with yachts and planes, too.

(34,661 posts)Estate on St Maarten. Understand it is not uncommon for the Trumpian Kids to fly back and fore frequently.

(58,785 posts)He's had it on the market for some time, but don't see that it's sold.
The estate, known as the Chateau des Palmiers, can fit up to 16 guests into its luxurious 9 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. The master suite is replete with a Jacuzzi tub as well as not one but two private balconies. The listing also includes a huge (read: yuuuge) heated pool, fitness center, tennis court, billiards, and dining room.
While the villa does have air conditioning, internet, an outdoor sound system, security staff, and a onsite chef, it doesnt seem to have carbon monoxide or smoke detectorsyoull have to bring those yourself. And it also comes with some conflicts of interest, according to ethics experts, who told Forbes that it could give those seeking to curry favor with the administration a chance to put tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars into Trumps pockets by renting the property.

(58,785 posts)I don't blame beachfront for the fact that it's becoming an impossible dream for even the hardest workers and most provident savers among the various working classes. Some income redistribution that eliminated billionaires altogether could do wonders for restoring its market price to accessibility.

(34,661 posts)There is a group of folks who track the activities of certain aircraft via Tail Numbers. Don't have a link or name. They used to expose private aircraft used for Rendition flights by the CIA.
Same group posted the flights of the Trump Kids in 2016 between St Maarten and the States as well as Eourpe.

Golden Raisin
(4,756 posts)is an island split into a Dutch and French half. It's a beautiful island and there's a lot of big money there on both sides. The main airport (Princess Juliana Airport) is on the Dutch side. Incidentally, it is one of the world's scariest runways to land on. A very short runway and you're flying so low before touchdown you barely miss the tops of umbrellas of the beach dwellers on one of the most popular beaches.

(6,810 posts)Have we confirmed his ass is in DC? I think we all would rather he be anywhere else, but then again anywhere else he could be doing more damage in secret. Fucking tired of this. A potted plant would be better than this. You'd know exactly where that fucking potato was and what it was doing at all times and not have to worry about it ... and it would still have enough sense not to pose for a photo-op in the Oval Office pretending to sign a stack of blank papers with a capped pen. Jesus fucking Christ is there no one there with an IQ higher than room temperature that could have caught that before the photo was taken?

(27,700 posts)As far as I know, they only allow the POTUS to fly on Air Force One, because it's the only aircraft with sufficient security and countermeasures to prevent a missile attack. I know that, early on, Trump wanted to use his own 757 (a.k.a. "Hair Force One" ) and the Secret Service vetoed it. I think it would be nearly impossible for him to be allowed to just take off in a private business jet, even one owned by the government, that would be a sitting duck for a surface-to-air missile.
EffieBlack
(14,249 posts)The president uses the large aircraft in connection with his role as commander in chief of the armed forces. It's not a security matter. The Secret Service's job is to keep the president safe in whatever situation he's in in fact, the president can fly on whatever aircraft he chooses, including commercial, and the Secret Service can't stop him.
Also, Air Force One isn't a particular plane. It's the radio call sign for any fixed wing Air Force aircraft carrying the president. That photo depicts a smaller government aircraft that is likely part of the Air Force fleet. If the president was on it, it was Air Force One for that flight.
It's not unusual for presidents to use smaller airplanes in the Air Force fleet for various reasons.

(589 posts)That one day we'll all be watching Rachel or something & there will be BREAKING NEWS!!! and it will turn into a balloon-boy type of scenario as we all watch Trump try to flee to Russia on Air Force One. And then Moscow won't clear the plane for landing. Wouldn't that be fun?
