O...M...F...G!
Cheney, initially trained by Rumsfeld, basically engineered this wormhole we are going down now.
He is a totally despicable person.
And, the bastard is still alive.

(9,650 posts)They were able to put some humor into the mix. Surprisingly, it worked.
Christian Bale was outstanding.

(1,622 posts)...When I saw the trailer, I was stunned by how much he looked like Darth Cheney...
dhol82
(9,650 posts)Even as a younger Dick.
Steve Carell was also great as Rumsfeld. Didnt realize for how long he was such a prick.

(9,650 posts)It just got more depressing as it went along.
There were many comedic breaks that helped to diffuse the attempt at total destruction of the country.
Interesting discussion of the Unitary Executive status. Scary to think that dump and his cabal now have those powers.

(72,188 posts)The way Bale was able to reproduce the way Cheney growls out of the side of his mouth is uncanny...

(7,880 posts)Yup, Cheney is part of a succession of corrupt politicians who paved the way for Dump

(9,650 posts)I was intrigued by how many shenanigans have gone on during my life time.
I guess that, since they were spaced out, they didnt have as much of an impact as when seen all together.

(7,880 posts)green. Must be some not-so-subliminal allusion to Cheetolini

(41,637 posts)... because there's usually a "bump" in sales once the movie comes out. So it makes sense that they would also redesign the cover and update the look to 2018.

(7,880 posts)good to know; and excellent reason to see the movie!!

(41,637 posts)Disclosure - I haven't seen the film yet but I do plan to see it soon.
On IMDB they say that Adam McKay the director also wrote the script, but they don't say whether he's basing it on a book. I would imaging that a lot research went into the script because that's how McKay and Christian Bale work. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression on my previous post.

(60,161 posts)I was surposed when I found out rumsfeld and Cheney had served in so many previous administrations. They knew the Gov. better than almost anyone.
In fact, if they were Trump henchmen, we would all be talking about their connections to some of the global bad guys.

(9,650 posts)The guy who was killed was a 30-something.
Sadly, his heart went to an evil, decrepit piece of shit rather than a deserving young person.
Sucks. Big time.

(22,959 posts)what "light" they shone on him. Did they tell the truth about how despicable a human he is or did they whitewash his crimes?
dhol82
(9,650 posts)Actually fascinating background about how much of a prick he always was.
Interesting part of the movie is how he got involved with Rumsfeld back at the beginning and parlayed that into ultimate control of the presidency.

(7,880 posts)mainstream media dropped the ball or substituted propaganda and lies for truth. I have not seen this film yet, but it sounds like it will help people remember the crimes of Cheney et. al. as well as help them put our current situation in better context.

(102,804 posts)I'm wondering about that, is it really a comedy?
dhol82
(9,650 posts)It has a number of really funny bits.
It also addresses the tragedy that we are now faced with.
Not sure I would have classified it as a comedy.

(102,804 posts)I don't receive much advertising and was expecting this to be a serious movie, then hearing that it might be a comedy made me wonder.

(18,714 posts)Do not mistake this as being hagiography...this is nothing of the sort.
This movie highlights the evil that is Dick, and that actors all do a phenomenal job! It is certainly a timely movie, shedding light on how we got to where we are today!
