(17,911 posts)There will always be dead enders. The question is, are there enough dead enders left to put establishment Rethugs in peril of being primaried? That is beginning to shift significantly. They certainly don't have to worry about the donor class anymore. That group has lost millions, are pissed as hell and want shitler gone.

(23,522 posts)two big things.
Things are still incredibly tenuous, and people are dismissing the processes that enabled 45 to ascend.
Republicans/conservatives arent going to just roll over to the evil liberals, and the country still will continue to indulge right wing fuck wittery.

(7,725 posts)Why do the Russian People hate the U.S.A. too? Where's the thanks for the crapola we've done for them in the past? Why no protests in Russia?

(24,324 posts)While the whole history is terribly complicated, most of it over my head, I have every reason to believe they would be right.
All Russians I know, which is not many, are highly educated, often artistic types with a pretty informed world view.
Of course, they have their own blind spots from their perspective, as we do from ours.
My occasional conversations with them are always quite informative, to say the least.

(7,725 posts)I'd be grateful for that, myself. I dunno. WW2 Lend-lease? Democracy?
Maybe it's the old..."What have you done for me lately?" bit?

(37,648 posts)We didn't "free" the Russians from anything. Go ask them.
As for "granting them their wish of democracy," we don't have that kind of power. Secondly, they don't have a real democracy.

(10,095 posts)I keep posting basically the same thing. My prediction is he will serve his full term. His putrid party will do nothing beside a few members posting mildly critical tweets. However, they sure seem to be blabbermouths in private talks with journalists.

(6,448 posts)Why don't we build the wall around the fence at the White House, imprison him there for life for his crimes, and build a new home for the deserving, honorable future presidents? With his many social diseases he brought in, they'll have to replace the furniture and plumbing anyway. And the fence will cost much less than even $1 Billion too.

(14,489 posts)I feel many of your ten points are true short term, but I'm prone to be long-term negative because of human short-sightedness and complacency.
Unfortunately for us, Republican's cyclic "two Santa Clauses" tactic is still working for them in the long term. It does, however feel good that we're about to go into the "positive" side of that cycle.
Until the massive problem of global inequality is resolved, I fear the trends toward nationalism, protectionism, racism and worsening poverty and deadly conflict will continue.
I don't see much now to stop the process unless we experience a global cataclysmic event such as another Great Depression. Climate change will eventually do the job, although millions will die in the process. The world is very poorly prepared for it and still in denial, much like Indonesia has been for tsunami.
However, let's hope 2019 proves to make all of your points hold true for the sake of world-wide emotional relief.....
