This knob actually said, "You Democrats should go back to wherever you came from" as if we all illegally immigrated to America from Democraticland.

This racist man told a woman that she should go back to where she came from & not speak Arabic at a Macys over the holidays. Two different allies stood up for the woman & confronted him. Twitter, do your thing & applaud these allies & help expose this man.

I rarely see this in California. I live in the Bay Area and perhaps we are a bit more tolerant here, but Ive lived in places where that statement fits. Mississippi, Indiana, Idaho, Oregon.
Im sure thats anecdotal, but i didnt realize California was considered a racist state overall.

(51,550 posts)similar things have been happening nation-wide in liberal and conservative areas. Trump has encouraged the worst elements of society to be more openly deplorable.

(151,540 posts)OK, done. It will take about an hour before someone also puts your name, where you work, and other details about you on Twitter and YouTube. After that, some people will send the video to your employer and complain about you telling some customers in the store, "Fuck You!"
Then, your employer will call you in for a little chat about your racism and xenophobia. Depending on who the employer is, he may also fire your snowflake ass. That'd be really cool if you got yourself fired over a $1 gift box, wouldn't it?

My maternal grandparents could trace their ancestry back to Colonial days.
So, if I am told to 'go back where I came from' where should I go?

(21,283 posts)If I go down to our high end mall here in Houston, there are LOTS of people of different ethnicities, including Arabs, who come here to SPEND MONEY! The stores love them and welcome them. Rich or poor, when did it become a crime to go into a store and SPEND MONEY without being harassed?

(10,252 posts)That's what they do. Rather we ask "Why are you so bigoted and filled with hatred?" Or I might say, "Oh please show us some more how your mind is prejudiced and filled with hatred." Or how about, "Does it give you pleasure to walk around with so much hatred inside?" Then there's my all-time favorite, "Hatred is poison. Stop hurting yourself"

(14,796 posts)Someone might remind this racist, xenophobic fellow that if he believes in the Biblical Christmas story, Jesus would have been a brown-skinned fellow that spoke Aramaic, which was the precursor language to Arabic.
Therefore, we would be perfectly proper to suggest he speak Arabic during the holiday to strictly honor Christ on his birthday.
And, we could bet our bottom dollar that Jesus would have been a Democrat!

(60,429 posts)A friend of mine used to be the Canadian ambassador to the USA, and his son returned often to visit friends in D.C. that he had made while his dad was working there. On one such visit right after Cheneybush invaded Iraq, he was talking in French on his cell phone with a fellow Canadian (both from Québec) when some American came up to him spit on him and called him "Frenchie," apparently upset that France refused to join the invasion. This was in the "Freedom Fries/Freedom Toast" days.
IronLionZion
(51,550 posts)very smugly, and that's all he said. That was back when we had a real president though. More recently the comments have gotten more along the lines of "Trump will send you back where you came from" as if we're from somewhere else.
But a lot of Trumpsters believe we are tacitly ignoring the 14th amendment these days and being born in America doesn't make someone American; only European heritage makes someone American.
