It looks like 40 seats flipping from the GOP to the Democrats in the House.
It looks like Democrats making large gains on the state level.
It looks like Democrats picking up Governors s eats.
It looks like 49% voting versus 37% in 2014. And this higher turnout came in the face of increased GOP obstruction and suppression designed to weaken the Democrats.
It looks like a wave of schoolteachers rising up, many in reliably red states.
It looks like Beto ORourke falling short, but showing that Texas is slowly turning from red to purple on the way to, one hopes, blue.
It looks like 19 new women in the House.
It looks like younger voters starting to vote.
And all of these things represent bad news for the GOP.
It looks like Robert Mueller doing his work, and drawing every closer to the Trump crime family with each indictment, each conviction, each plea agreement.
Feel free to add more reasons, and more hope.
Guill
edited to add: 2 years of intense House investigations of the Trump crime cabal.

It looks like a strong Democratic field for 2020
It looks like more people running for office for the first time, and winning
It looks like Nancy Pelosi licking her chops at the thought of bringing legislation that will actually help the country
It looks like House Committee Chairs running substantive investigations of Trump, his family, his administration, and his businesses.

Amazing how uninformed voting can lead to unintended results.

(71,926 posts)croup of capable Democratic POTUS possibilities gets to the WH. Everyone knowing cheetolini is going down might suppress the vote, we need our national convention to be about more than choosing who going to be the next President. We'll need it to support other national and state races. Some of our new Reps won with very narrow margins. We need to go to the polls in record number for the next four years. There are a couple of other SCOTUS seats to be considered, too.

Have to add a little pun: cannabis is gaining ground. (Now if only the repukes would start using it we might vastly multiply the USAs progress.)
Happy 2019!

(42,649 posts)I agree that cannabis is gaining ground, and about time.
Happy 2019 to you also.
