This is the kind of headline and story that will cause Ocasio Cortez trouble

Ocasio-Cortez poses with incoming female members of Congress

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) posted a photo Wednesday posing alongside several other women who will join the 116th Congress as new members on Thursday.

The photo, taken by Vanity Fair's Martin Schoeller, shows Ocasio-Cortez standing next to fellow Reps.-elect Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Deb Haaland (D-N.M.), Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) and Sharice Davids (D-Kan.).

Seriously?

Perhaps The Hill is doing this on purpose, intending to make her look bad, but how obnoxious, not to mention insulting, to the other women, for the story to be headlined and reported as if the other Members are Dawn to AOC's Tony Orlando.

This isn't AOC's fault at all - she didn't write the headline or the story - and surely she was not the only been Member to post this picture so it can't be said she did anything to prompt it. But it feeds into and helps to craft a negative narrative about AOC that she'll have to work hard to counter.

Why couldn't The Hill simply report that the incoming female Members posed TOGETHER?

Sheesh!

Would The Hill have described a photo of 6 or 7 first year respresentative men, as “posing”? Hard to imagine that. Fashion models “pose.”

There are many other ways of captioning and headlining this photo.

and the framing by The Hill is ridiculous.

This is a great Portrait of incoming women Democrats. When it comes to women in positions of power, the media can't seem to help themselves.

...I posted it here months ago.

People will take the photo whatever way they want.

I see a powerful group of new Democratic legislators.

I really don't see the point in amplifying the Hill's take on the moment.

here's a few more:

the one I posted (Ayanna Pressley posted):

All of them are totally committed to portraying the Democrats in a disarray, ineffective, and fighting among ourselves in exchange for viewers, readers, and clicks. While reporting doesn't need to be biased in our favor, we should demand the truthful reporting.

Their only interest is in stirring shit to attract attention and eyeballs to their site. Very rarely do they engage in actual journalism.
