Impeachment with no chance of winning is like betting on a little league team beating the Red Sox.

To rush headlong into impeachment proceedings without MASSIVE public support and extremely clear evidence of high crimes is a ridiculous and DUMB fool's errand that will only fire up the R's, make them come out and vote in huge numbers, and hurt Dems in a big way.

We need Muelller's full report showing extremely clear evidence of VERY serious crimes. We need MASSIVE public support for it. We need some REPUBLICANS willing to support it. Remember, they have the Senate which needs a supermajority to vote for removal from office. Obviously we have NONE of this yet. And we may never have it. So let's just SLOW DOWN.

Dems were elected on healthcare, jobs, infrastructure, and education. THAT is where the FOCUS needs to be! And that is the FOCUS Nancy Pelosi is INSISTING upon and good for HER!

Trump will hang himself as he is already doing. Let him keep hanging himself. Beat him and R's AT THE VOTING BOOTH. We need to GOVERN, keep building the party, and keep WINNING ELECTIONS.

The jury isn’t polled at the start of the trial.

In fact, the jury is required to presume the defendant is innocent from the get-go.

Every single post of this type, and it’s pretty much every day now, fails to understand the process.

The votes weren’t there for Nixon when the process started either.

got significant evidence and feel that a conviction is fairly certain.

Moreover, impeachment proceedings against Nixon didn't begin until February 1974. Congress first conducted an extensive investigation into Watergate - which lasted several months before the impeachment process began. The House didn't launch impeachment proceedings until the Select Committee and the special prosecutor had gathered the volumes of evidence, developed the groundwork necessary to prime the public to support impeachment.

The House is working on doing that now. Several committees are about to conduct investigations and hearings, which combined with Mueller's report, will likely put together enough to generate strong support for impeachment. This should be done in those committees, not by the Judiciary Committee in an impeachment proceeding.

Everything is moving in the right direction and I think the House is doing it just right.

If the evidence supports impeachment, the House has no choice but to do their Constitutional duty.
Cowardice or bravery or political considerations are simply not in the equation.
If the senate doesn't convict... that's a whole separate question.

What the Repubs in the Senate will do or not do is irrelevant to what the Dems in the House should do. If there ever was a person worthy of impeachment it would be Trump. Failing to impeach would be a tragic mistake.

isn't going to send articles of impeachment to the Senate unless she knows it will result in a conviction. That is a good thing and just one of a multitude of reasons we are fortunate to have her there at this time. On the other hand, it is good that lying motherfucker knows there is a solid contingent in this country and now in Congress that wants to impeach that lying motherfucker.
