General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI'll be watching Trump's address tonight. I don't see any point in NOT watching.
The address isn't going to have any less impact if I don't watch.
And as interested as I'll be in what Pelosi and Schumer will say in response -- and what the commentary from my favorite journalists, pundits, national security experts, etc., will be -- I'd like to hear it myself and form my own opinions before listening to everyone else's.

(62,444 posts)I probably wont warch because I truly have other things to do, but I dont get what one gains by ntentionally making a point of not watching.
The guy grates on my nerves, so I see no reason to subject myself to that irritation. But thats just me.
The good stuff will be clipped and reported, but, hey, if something interesting jumps out at you, feel free to let me know.

The best way to hurt Trump is to ignore him.

(54,854 posts)that can't be digested in a couple of lines of print. He just doesn't have the intellect to generate more.
And why does everyone play his game every time he decides he needs some attention? Everyone playing his game is what got him elected in the first place. We never learn.

The best thing in the world for us would be if the ratings on this flopped. He is a vampire who lives on our attention. When he gets it he will use it to destroy us. If he doesn't get it, he will shrivel.
And you say you'd like to hear it yourself and form your own opinions. Are you expecting that he might win you over? Are you expecting that the whole thing will not be lies? Are you expecting that the wall will suddenly make sense? If not, what opinions are you thinking he will change tonight?
Watch the pundits, watch the Democrats. Turn your back on him.

(36,631 posts)You encourage more propaganda through the networks.
You cement Donald's power to bully GOPer Senators up for election in 2020.

(51,308 posts)I really cant. I know that the news stations will be talking about this all week, so Ill not be able to escape it.
But I wont watch. Ill probably put the iPad away as well because I know once the tangerine turd begins talking, everyone will be posting OPs.
That being said, I totally understand those who want to watch. I just cant.

(54,854 posts)that you didn't know about him already? Did you learn anything?
This is what he does, and us continuing to give him attention is what he craves. If that speech had had abysmal ratings, a) the networks wouldn't air the next one and b) he would go into a tailspin of despair.
Instead, we can expect more of these to come now, with all the hysteria attached to them. We are feeding him.
