Did anyone hear anything about Rupert Murdoch visiting Mitch McConnell today?

I happened to have Thom Hartman on in the living room and thought I heard Thom say that Murdoch was seen heading into McConnell's office. I was in the middle of doing something and by the time I got back to the show they had moved on to other stuff. Might mean nothing, who knows?

With Shep Smith and Chris Wallace seemingly upsetting the Fox applecart lately, I wonder what is going on. By the way, thanks to all of you that post the Fox videos that are of interest to DU'ers, so we don't have to spend any time watching their crappy "news."

1. He was in McConnell's office a while ago, maybe 2 months? Supposedly not on Mitch's calendar.

May have been privately schedule and not put on the calendar to keep it "private". Some reporter caught a pic out in the hallway. Not sure about today but Thom's reference might have been referencing that meeting.

I think this was a meeting to tell Mitch in advance that Smith/Wallece were going to start upsetting the apple cart (and why) so Mitch wouldn't be surprised.

2. Murdoch wants the GOP to survive Trump, AND have FOXNews survive as the GOP agitprop outlet

and to do that they need to pick just the right timing and set of circumstances for the GOP to break w/ Trump, and FOXNews needs to have their message organized and coordinated when they do. Not too early, not too late. Looking for the Goldilocks zone.

3. Nothing new about Shep Smith or Chris Wallace deviating from the Fox line.

That's always been Smith's MO; he's the Fox dissident. And Wallace likes to preserve at least a facsimile of journalistic cred. So they shouldn't be looked to for signs of change in general Fox policy.

It was reported several weeks ago -- either just before or just after the midterms, I think -- that Murdoch had visited McConnell. So maybe Hartman was referring to that meeting?
