Thank God we took the House.

The ultimate antidote to cover-ups: Chairs of Congressional Committees willing to allow the truth to take Trump down, because they are not shackled to him at the waist. Public hearings. Subpoenas that follow where the evidence leads them. And that is a very dark place about to be illuminated by spotlights.

The 2018 Mid terms will go down as among the most consequential elections in American history.

The ongoing mobilization to resist was massive and tireless, and it was effectively channeled into hundreds of Congressional races. One of our Democracy's finest hours. Many tens of thousands of unsung heroes in this chapter of American history.

didn't want the truth to come out and/or buried it, hid it, didn't ask about falsehoods or follow up in any meaningful way. They became part of the problem and know it. They're leaving office by the droves such as Paul Ryan and the like, thinking that they can get away from all of the corruption and such going on, but despite leaving office, they're still just as guilty of corruption and need to be called out for it and prosecuted. All of them.

And fortunately, the American public agreed on this very point in 2018. As I've said before, the Democratic House and Nancy Pelosi as Speaker gives us a fighting chance to turn this debacle around.

God knows what would have awaited us with a different outcome.

In the 1700's copper coins (halfpence) were pretty important in commerce in England (here too). There were a lot of underweight counterfeits, for various reasons people usually used them the same as real ones. Counterfeiters sought to evade prosecution for counterfeiting by skirting laws of the time that specified it was illegal to make coins with the legends and words used on lawful "Regal" coinage. So they made up new wording. These came to be known as "evasion coppers" with mostly gibberish substituted for the real legends (most people couldn't read anyway.) Sometimes though literally new slogans appeared on them. I have one that uses one of my favorites. While it too makes a reference to "God", rather than saying "God Save the King" it instead says "God Save Us All."

Depending on how elastic a view of God one holds, that could be transformed into "Let us save each other." In the case at hand it was those who voted Democratic we must give thanks to.

Trump and McConnell are still busily fucking things up as much as they can.

We need the same turnout and more come 2020. Do that and we could flip the Senate and win the WH. Then we can start fixing some of the damage.

We battled back from the sneak attack, now we have to win this war convincingly in 202o and, as you say, begin the work of countering the damage done.

Unlike our thin congressional majorities in '08, this opportunity cannot be squandered. The stakes are too high
