Meghan McCain Clashes With View Hosts Over GOP: 'Do You Think 42 Percent of Americans Are Racists?'

During a discussion about Rep. Steve King (R-IA) and his comments on white supremacy, Meghan McCain took strong issue with several of her colleagues on The View — as they, in her opinion, tried to paint the entire Republican party with the same brush.

As part of a heated debate, McCain seized on a comment made by Sunny Hostin.

“Will Republicans now step up to the plate with Donald Trump?” Hostin said. “Because he has been using, I think, the border wall as sort of this dog whistle for racism. The government is still shut down. And I think it’s all about ‘Let’s not let all these brown people in.'”

Abby Huntsman asked Hostin if the reported 42 percent of Americans who support the wall are racist.

white male, if you’re talking about or mean white male supremacists, yeah, pretty damn close if not exactly. Of course, that includes misogynists — the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Hard to imagine any white male supremacists who aren’t misogynists as well though.

Although the illegal immigration is not purely racial. If you look back at our history, at one point irish people were discriminated against and other caucasian groups. If not race then it would be heritage, background, etc. The wall itself is an important symbol to alt right. They’d rather just get the wall and no other border security measures. It’s not about securing the border, it’s about sending a message that you are not welcome here and having this monument erected in trumps name.

These 3 words (Prejudice, Bigotry, Racism) have different levels of extremity, and "Racist" is the worst. We loosely apply it to everyone who holds racial/ethnic prejudices now.

There are people who would be proud to be called racist, and there are people who would be hurt and shocked by it even though they're okay with their leader's racist views. Their attitudes are both offensive but one is certainly worse than the other.

So of that group what percentage were racists and what percentage were just assholes? (note there would be some overlap)

Split it in half and you have 35%, so Megan are 35 percent of Repukes assholes and 35% racists? You tell me how to breakdown the % of Repukes based upon this consistently horrible number.
