Land of the Free

Not sure how many people have already seen this. I stumbled across the tweet with embedded vid over at Hoarse Whisperer's feed. Video was directed by Spike Lee, performed by The Killers.

Personally? I was blown away. Fierce, effective, heartbreaking. An anthem of sorts.

Anyway, thought I'd post it here.

I nearly cried watching/listening to this.

I agree: beautiful, heartbreaking. And tragically true.

Beautiful...the people in the film. Heartbreaking...the broken promise to the tired, poor and those yearning to breathe free. True...all of it. Sitting here in the car crying waiting for my kiddo to finish his piano lesson

For many decades, we've sold the world on the idea of "the American dream", "land of opportunity", and I can't help but wonder how some can say those words with a straight face as we turn away, lock up, and separate families who actually believed that promise.

And I think this piece brings it home in a powerful, emotional manner. Spike Lee did a phenomenal job with the vid and the music performed by The Killers is a killer.

Makes me want to weep.
